We would like to take this opportunity to thank the numerous supporters who objected to the Mast planning application.*
Remember however – the last objections referred only to the Mast (application S.09/1265). The turbines are an entirely new application and everyone will need to resubmit their objections – basing them on the turbines!
How to object:
ONLINE: Click here to go to the proposal on the SDC website. Scroll down to the 'comment' button and click it. Fill in all information and select the 'Object to proposal' radio box from the three options when you need to.
WRITING: If you object by writing a letter then its best to include a line like "....I object to planning application S.10/1638/FUL...."
Tips for writing the best letter of objection that you can:
It must be remembered that the main concern of the planning department is whether the application meets all the statuary and local planning rules and guidelines.
Individual objections do matter, because they reflect how the proposals will influence the quality of each individual’s environment, and the area as a whole.
The turbine planning application is a complex document which includes an Environmental Impact Assessment – if you can, please read it and include any comment on any technical points as part of your objection. The profitability of any proposal is not taken into account. We will post extracts from the application on this site soon to help.
We welcome any and all objections, no matter how brief, but the more time and homework you can give the stronger your objection will be!
When writing an objection try to keep these points in mind:
|
DO
These are all good points to mention in an objection:
-What will the impact on the environment be?
-How will it affect you personally?
-How could you be affected by noise issues?
-Will it affect your property and how much you will enjoy living in it?

DON’T
It’s all too easy to waste a lot of your time writing an objection that doesn’t help! Avoid the following pitfalls so your objection is as great as it can be:
-Don’t refer to property values
-Don’t say it’s not economic - tell Ecotricity that!
-Don’t point out that there is little wind in the Berkeley Vale - again, just tell Ecotricity!
-Don’t say that CO2 is not really a problem and has no effect on global temperatures.
-It’s best not to just say “I object”. Try and put some reason for objecting!
-Don’t just make a comment on the Application – these carry practically no weight at all. Please make it an objection, even if you don’t know what else to say.
-Don’t offer to start a petition – they won’t count for much.
-Don’t start a round-robin letter. They carry very little or no weight.
-Be passionate, but base your objection around facts and reality

And here are a few more ideas if you have time to assess them. Does the application fit with:
-PPS22 Planning guide for Renewable Energy
-The Stroud Local Plan
-ETSU-R97 for noise issues
-Any documentation you find on the web relating to health issues and close proximity of dwellings.
-Safety issues.
THANK YOU.
Please keep checking back for more information.
*Unfortunately a number of them referred to the turbines, rather than the mast, and these were therefore rejected by both the SDC planning department and the Appeals Planning Inspector as they did not relate solely to the mast. But the rest made a big difference!
